Lambuth Heats Up in Pre-Season Camp
 

Hot weather arrived in Jackson about the same time the Lambuth Eagles hit the practice turf last week. With over 150 players the coaching staff has a challenge in being able to give everyone that opportunity to excel.

Coach Hugh Freeze and his staff are up to the challenge as the excitement can be sensed when one visits the intense practice sessions.
The coaching staff is taking special notice of athletic ability, focus and concentration, particularly in the newcomers.

" The summer workouts really helped a lot of our kids. The heat has not been as much of a factor as it could have been because they are used to it., " Freeze said. " We believe the first two weeks need to be as physical as we can be to set the tone."

" We had a couple of scary injuries last week but received good news early this week as they were not as serious as we thought. " Freeze noted.
" I have been very pleased with our leadership. The upperclassmen have really set a good example of how to practice and pay attention to detail, " Feeze said. " Practice habits win ballgames, some kids just try to get through a practice, winning teams embrace the chance to improve and learn from practice."

" We will back off and become less physical once we have set that tone we are looking for.

This group can be very special if they work hard and focus in on what is expected, " Freeze added.

" Our coaches have done a super job. Our defense has improved and is dominating the offense at times. I am very pleased with their progress. The coaches are dedicated and looking at every player and trying our best to give them the opportunity to step up and help this team reach it's goals, " according to Freeze.

Fans are invited to "Meet the Eagles Day" Saturday , August 22 at L.L. Fonville Field. The event begins at noon with a practice to follow. It is also Picture Day and Media Day for the team.

The NAIA released its latest poll Monday with Lambuth being ranked # 14 in the NAIA Football Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
