Kalen DeBoer Resigns at Sioux Falls; Headed to Southern Illinois as Offensive Coordinator

Grand Island, NE - University of Sioux Falls head coach Kalen DeBoer announced this morning that he will resign his position as head coach at USF to take the offensive coordinator position at Southern Illinois.

DeBoer had been the head coach at with the Cougars for the last five seasons compiling a 67-3 overall record.* USF won its fourth overall national title, the third under DeBoer.* The Cougars have won four consecutive Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) and NAIA National Championships in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
"As tough as it is to leave here, I'm excited about the opportunity to work under Dale Lennon," said DeBoer.* "This will give me an opportunity to continue to help build the program at SIU and continue the tradition they have started."

The Cougars will have an official press conference today at Noon CT.* SIU went 11-2 last season under Dale Lennon who is the former head coach of North Dakota.

DeBoer was recognized as the 2009 GPAC Coach of the Year, the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Region 4 Coach of the Year and the AFCA's NAIA National Coach of the Year, all while tutoring quarterback Lorenzo Brown to USF's third NAIA Player of the Year Award. The Cougars currently have a 50 game home win streak and have won 82 of their last 83 conference contests.
