Coach/AD at Lane not returning

Lane College: Sources tell us that both the head coach and the athletic director at Lane College (D2 in TN) will not be returning. We spoke with the President’s office who told us they would be making an official announcement at 2PM.



Wonder where Boykin will land? Wonder why this decision was made. Maybe the next AD will make a Lambuth/Lane game a reality.

if this is the case, it is a poor move by lane! Both men are class acts and coach boykin is a very good coach.

I saw the same info that T.C. posted regarding Lane @ FB Scoop.,
but have heard of nothing official taking place @ Lane.

Right, there isn't an announcement on the Lane website, although that website isn't ever updated.

The President at Lane is like that though TC. He is likely to make this kind of move and nearly keep it a secret til he has hired a replacement. McClure not the AD is what stops Lambuth/Lane from happening. He maybe sniffed it getting close and removed the two before it came to be. When working in Press I had dealing with McClure. He is a strange bird.

That makes sense. I really think it's a shame, too.

A good source just told me that Coach Boykin has already been offered a job. Good guys land on their feet!

Was it McClure who called all the black folks at LU "Uncle Toms" after the big LU/Lane fight?

Or was that just a rumor I heard?

Lane has hired Derrick Burroughs as new Head Coach. He was DB coach for the New York Senitals (UFLL) & has coached @ Alabama ST & Stillman College. Also, played @ U. of Memphis, Senior Bowl & 1st round draft choice Buffalo Bills.
